Elvis Is An Official Dutch Word

Elvis Is An Official Dutch Word: Dutch is the very first language to have ”Elvis” as an official word. It is highly unusual that a name is accepted as a substantive noun. Only worldwide known names and brands get this privilege. Nevertheless, the official dictionary ”van Dale” has listed two derivations of ”Elvis”: Elvisbakkebaard(en) (Elvis sideburn(s)) and Elviskuif/ven (Elvis forelock(s)). One problem though: it seems that history isn’t the core business of van Dale. Year of birth of Elvis (1935) is correct, but the dying-year (1937) is 40 years early. Your fan club has already alerted the Van Dale Company. In the next issue, the mistake will be corrected, and it will also be on van Dale’s website.
