New Life For Overton Park Shell: Finally good news from Memphis! In a time that more and more historical places are pulled down, we received the news that the Overton Park Shell will be renovated. In this open air theater, Elvis performed for the first time for a large audience and returned several times for concerts together with stars as Johnny Cash. After a lot of years of not knowing what the destination of the property will be, the city’s board has come up with the necessary funds to renovate the park. The plans to tear down the facility and turn it in to a parking lot for the neighbouring museum are cancelled. In the spring of 2008, the theater will be ready to organise new concerts. We’ll hope that there will be more decisions like this to protect the Elvis heritage.
