The Las Vegas Frontier Hotel Has Sold For US$1.2 Billion Dollars

The Las Vegas Frontier Hotel Has Sold For US$1.2 Billion Dollars: The Las Vegas Frontier Hotel, where Elvis made his Las Vegas debut in 1956, has set the record for the most expensive sale of land on the Las Vegas Strip, as the sale of the Frontier Hotel was confirmed. The sale of this resort has been rumoured for sometime. Now the current owner Phil Ruffin has confirmed that an offer for US$1.2 billion has been agreed with the real estate investment group El Ad properties.

The Old Frontier was only the 2nd hotel to be built on the Las Vegas Strip when it opened in 1942. It was renamed the New Frontier and re-modelled in 1955 with a space-age theme to reflect the atomic era with the nations optimism in exploring space in the 1950s, and Elvis made his debut appearance in the aptly titled Venus Room the following year.

The hotel has undergone several refurbishments and changes of ownership over its 65 year history and was renamed the Frontier when the reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes bought the property in 1967, which he observed from his Desert Inn hideaway on the opposite side of the Strip.

This sale means that the future of this resort is now uncertain and could be earmarked for demolishion in the very near future.

The Aladdin Hotel, where Elvis and Priscilla married in 1967 was demolished and is now a Planet Hollywood Resort, while negotiations are underway for the sale of the Sahara, where Elvis stayed while filming Viva Las Vegas and on his frequent trips to Las Vegas throughout the 1960s.
